Background and Identification
In the top left corner of the keyboard, the words “Inspiron 1100” can be found to identify the laptop. It has a gray and blue color scheme and a 14.1 inch screen. It was released in 2003 as a budget-friendly consumer option. Windows XP Home and Windows XP Professional were the available operating systems at the time of its release. Boasting a 4 hour battery life, the Inspiron 1100 would make an ideal travel laptop if it wasn't for its hefty 7.6 pound weight. The Inspiron 1100 comes with 2 USB 2.0 ports but lacks a Firewire port.
In September 2011, there was a recall for the battery used in Dell laptops, including the Inspiron 1100. This model was also one of a group of Inspiron models that were prone to overheating.
The speakers are mounted inside the shell, below the palm rest, which can result in poor and muffled sound quality.
