Background and Identification
The Alienware M17x was released in 2009 and was the first laptop that Dell produced with the name Alienware after they bought out the previous owners, and is now discontinued. You can distinguish the M17x from other laptops because of the light up eyes on the face of the alien on the cover of the screen. This model of Alienware is identified by the Alienware on the bottom of the laptop in the lower middle section and by its model number found to the right of the Service Tag information: M17x.
The Alienware M17x is used commonly in the computer gaming community. The M17x has 1600 MHz of memory speed with 16GB of storage. The hard drive has 7200 rpm and 750GB. The processor for this laptop is an Intel Core i7. When the M17X was first released it was released with Windows 7 Home Premium, 64bit. Lastly the video output on the M17x is 2GB GDDR5 nVidia GeForce GTX 66M. All of this put together is why the gaming community uses the M17x.
The M17x was replaced by the M17x-R2 in 2010.
