The Samsung Galaxy A5 (2016) is an Android smartphone produced by Samsung Electronics. First introduced in 2014, the Samsung Galaxy A5 served as an upper mid-range device. There are three editions of the Samsung Galaxy A5 released in 2014, 2015, and 2016. The 2015 and 2016 Samsung Galaxy A5 are successors to the 2014 version.

Compared to the plastic design of Samsung’s previous phones, the Samsung Galaxy A5 features an aluminum unibody with chamfered metal edges. While this design is similar to the Samsung Galaxy Alpha and Samsung Galaxy note 4, the Galaxy A5 has a larger 4” Super AMOLED HD display, compared to the 4.7” display of the Galaxy Alpha. The Galaxy A5 is also slimmer at 6.7 mm, making it the thinnest Samsung smartphone at its launch time.

The Galaxy A5 has several notable features/improvements including increased screen protection, better camera sensors, and sharper detail in the camera software. Screen durability of the A5 is enhanced by the Gorilla Glass 4. The A5 also brings over the 13 megapixel rear camera sensor from the successful Galaxy S4, but with improvements in the software for sharper detail and better low-light capabilities. The front camera is also improved with a new 5 megapixel camera for better detail capture and better “selfie” abilities.
