This troubleshooting page will help you diagnose problems with the HP Pavilion Sleekbook 14-b013cl.

The laptop will not charge when it is plugged in.

Make sure the charger is plugged in the and light indicating charge is on. If the light is not on while the charger is plugged in, then the charger is defective. Think about purchasing a replacement charger.

The laptop screen is cracked or has dead pixels.

If the pixel stays unresponsive for a long period of time, however, it is most likely a dead pixel.

If the unresponsive pixels turn out to be dead pixels, try and repair them by turning off your computer and, using a damp cloth to avoid scratching your screen, gently apply pressure on the dead pixels. The laptop is not properly ventilating or dispersing heat.

Location is a large factor in the temperature of a computer. If it is in a room without adequate climate control or ventilation or sitting in direct sunlight, heat will buildup inside the computer very quickly.

Computers have air vents, usually on the sides or bottom of the casing. These allow air to flow through the components of the computer, dispersing heat. If these vents are blocked by dust or covered, heat will build up inside the computer and potentially cause damage to the computer.

Dust blocks airflow and insulates components, trapping heat within the computer. This can cause damage to the computer. Periodically, a can of compressed air should be used to remove any dust buildup, taking care not to spray any components too harshly.

The keys become unresponsive to any keystrokes and the input stops.

Crumbs from your lunch or other meals can sometimes get stuck under the keys, rendering them useless. Hold your laptop upside down or at the very least at a 45- to 75-degree angle from horizontal and give your device a good shake. Crumbs can sometimes get stuck under the keys rendering them useless. If you have an air duster or some other form of vacuum or compressed air, you can clean out under the keys and check to see if the keys begin responding. Drinks can also be spilled on the keys. An unresponsive keyboard can be the result of software bugs, as well. A hard reboot can help correct these bugs by resetting the software. Hold down the power button for 10-15 seconds to turn off the device. Check to see if the keys start responding after restarting.

This problem can pop up if you often find yourself installing third party software. Check the device manager on your laptop and see if the keyboard line has a warning symbol next to it or a yellow exclamation point. This can be an indicator of a problem. If the warning is present, go to the laptop manufacturer’s page, locate the correct files, download, and install the latest drivers for the keyboard. Check to see if the keys are now responsive.

The laptop is not running to the speed it is capable of.

You may shut down the computer or even exit out of the programs that you might not be using anymore. If you only use one browser at a time that will make it so the computer runs faster.
