I replaced the screen while keeping the frame, but unfortunately had already gone too far in the "replace screen including frame" tutorial, so I did a bit more work than I'd have to. Reassembled, and now the phone is unresponsive, just black screen, no reaction at all, with or without a power cable attached. If it's one of the connections, is there a good way to narrow down the problem? From which point should I be able to turn the phone on or get some reaction without completely assembling it?
Great guide! I exchanged the power supply because my fan went full speed, and iStats showed no data from the “AC/DC T2 sec. heatsink” temperature sensor, which is built into the power supply itself! After exchanging (and using the opportunity for some upgrades), everything works, sensor readout is normal, too! Just a pity that I couldn’t locate the thermal sensor on the power supply, it’s a shame to dispose of it just because of a minor part!
eplaced an i5-6600K with an i7-6700K in a late-2015 27” iMac, and on the first try, I really tightened those screws, and that got me a dead iMac. But fortunately, after disassembling everything again, I could straighten out the bent CPU (looked really sad!) and against all odds, got it to work again, this time very carefully tightening the screws (if that is possible at all - you just can’t do it without any force!) and stopping early. I stopped approximately when the thicker part of the screws reached the upper margin of the board. Didn’t try to reverse the spring plate, though. Could also absolutely be worth a try.
I can absolutely confirm that! Replaced an i5-6600K with an i7-6700K in a late-2015 27” iMac, and on the first try, I really tightened those screws, and that got me a dead iMac.
