The Samsung Galaxy Watch Active includes a 1.1-inch display with a resolution of 360 by 360 pixels. The Samsung Galaxy Watch Active 2 was introduced in September 2019 with a slightly larger display (either 1.4-inches or 1.2-inches with model numbers SM-R820 (44mm), SM-R825 (44mm/Cellular), SM-R830 (40mm), and SM-R835 (40mm/Cellular). The Samsung Galaxy Watch Active runs on a Tizen 4.0 operating system and an Exynos 9110 dual-core 1.15 GHz processor. The watch includes a 230 mAh battery that is advertised to last up to three days without recharging. It features an accelerometer, gyroscope, barometer, electro-optical sensor (for heart-rate monitoring), and a photodetector (for ambient light).

The Samsung Galaxy Watch Active includes a Gorilla Glass display and IP68 dust- and water-resistance, meaning the watch can be submerged in up to 1.5 meters of freshwater for up to 30 minutes.
