Why is My Trackpad Acting Erratically?

Hello everyone,

I have a ThinkPad T530 that I got from an auction a few days ago. When I started using the laptop after installing an SSD and setting up Windows with drivers, my cursor sometimes does unwanted actions while using the built-in trackpad. For example, the cursor sometimes goes up and down while trying to move right or left. Another example is when the cursor scrolls randomly without the two-finger gesture. Sometimes, it jumps from one place to another for some reason. I have once disconnected and reconnected the trackpad cable, and the issue happens less frequently, but it still sometimes happens. Is there a solution for these weird trackpad issues I am having?

Thanks.

@tanveerzubair unistall the old driver and then install a new driver. Next use Windows to see if you can calibrate/align your track-pad. Something like this should work. Anything after that, it might just be the track-pad itself. Try cleaning it with +90% isopropyl alcohol etc. See if it is binding anywhere etc. Double check the cable for any tears, corrosion etc. ThinkPad T530 Hardware Maintenance Manual as well as these guides should help you to work on it Lenovo ThinkPad T530

Reinstalled the driver. I have followed the video and done some settings. I did clean the trackpad with some isopropyl alcohol, which made the trackpad feel a bit better, but the issue still existed. I disconnected and reconnected the trackpad cable, and that just made the issue more frequent annoyingly. I am wondering if taping the trackpad socket on the bottom of the palm rest would solve the issue (I saw a reddit post mentioning this).
