Hi @elchanan1

You said that you replaced the charging socket but did you notice if there were any components on the board e.g. power mosfets that were visibly damaged i.e. burnt out or heat stressed?

Post some close up images of the motherboard, in your question above as there may be something to be seen. Here's how to do this on ifixit iFixitでの質問に画像を追加する方法

If there's nothing obvious then you may need the schematics to find out what's wrong.

If the motherboard's model number is NM-C771 (printed on the board), I couldn't find a free download online. This is the cheapest one that I found. You may have better luck in finding a free download.

Update (06/13/24)

Hi @elchanan1

Here's the schematic for the NM-C421 motherboard. Perhaps start checking the circuits from the USB ports as seen on p.69 of the schematic. I don't know the laptop so I'm not sure which port is the charge port.

This time I couldn't find a free boardview file (again cheapest one that I found) so that you know where each of the components shown in the schematic are actually located on the motherboard as no doubt a lot of them won't be designated.

When I look, everything looks fine

And the model of the board is MN-C421

@jayeff

The charging socket is Type-C and by checking the sequence everything is connected as it should be

Could it be the faulty Vbus?

I found a boardview file, can you maybe direct me what to check?

@elchanan1

See p.59 and check circuit to U5901as this is the USB-C Power delivery controller IC.

Check it's getting 5V-In, (pin10) Vcon_In (pin25) and VCC3_3V3 (pi26) as these are the voltages that make the IC work.

Don't short out the pins with your meter when testing!

@jayeff

I checked voltages

PIN10 0.18V

PIN25 4.1V

PIN26 3.3V

@elchanan1

You have to search the diagram for 5V_In points and find out why there's no 5V on the lead e.g. see p.125 VCC5M to D12501 is one point
