Hi @brendanmaenene

Are you trying to reset the BIOS to default values to fix a possible corrupted BIOS? Your question about not having a cooler and having to reset the laptop makes me ask.

If the laptop doesn't have a CPU cooling fan then it won't start or if it does it won't stay on for long because it will be shutdown to protect the CPU from overheating and being permanently damaged because there is no signal being received by the BIOS from the fan that it is working OK.

If it does have a cooling fan, have you tried a power refresh?

Here's the procedure:

Disconnect the charger from the laptop if connected.

Remove the main battery from the laptop. Disassemble the laptop and remove the RTC coin cell battery from the motherboard. Note the orientation of the battery before you remove it from the motherboard. Normally it is +ve on top as marked on the battery.

When the battery is out measure its voltage. If it is <2.5V DC or >5 years old, replace it. The battery type is printed on the battery itself. If it is a CR2032 or CR2026 then these are commonly available everywhere e.g. supermarkets.

Press and hold the laptop's Power on button for a full 30 seconds and then release it.

Reinsert the RTC battery -remember the orientation of the battery

Reassemble the laptop and insert the main battery. Reconnect the charger and check if it starts OK.

If it does then there may be a message regarding the date and time being incorrect. This is normal as the BIOS has been reset. Once the D&T have been corrected the message won't appear the next time the laptop is started. Also any user definable BIOS settings that have been altered by you to suit your particular operating requirements will have to be set again.

Basically all the C50 series motherboards are the same only the specifications are different. Here's a teardown video that shows the RTC battery at 5:48 minutes into the video.
