1 Coils freeze over and it does not drain
This dehumidifier is about 1.5 years old and half a year out of warranty. The coils started to freeze over recently. I cleaned out the filters and made sure the fan was working properly. It must be one of the sensors (I cleaned them off too since there was some dust on them). Any ideas on what could be wrong and how to get replacements parts if they don't seem to sell any? This does seem to be a common issue as I look at the product reviews now, but no one seems to have solutions. Many of these seem to break after 1-2 years

As you may or may not know, dehumidifiers are basically air conditioners that return air at relatively the same temperature as the room instead of cooling air. They're designed to condense moisture from a room to remove humidity and drain moisture into a pan for periodic emptying. From your descriptions, freezing coils may be due to a leak, loss of refrigerant. Most sealed refrigeration systems are factory sealed for long life, usually beyond the warranty period. Loss of refrigerant is detected by an electronic leak detector sniffing around the plumbing by a technician knowledgeable of refrigeration systems. If there are electronics used to cycle the compressor to prevent icing then electronics may be at fault. Unfortunately, only knowledgeable diyers or pros can determine where fault lies as this is usually beyond average diy repairs. Perhaps someone here more knowledgeable can help but post year, make, and model number. You may be able to search youtube videos for diy troubleshooting.
