I have a WD my book world that is around 9 years old and the network control card / board is dead. Some part has blown can see black deposits around the enclosure.
The issue is when you power it on with or without the hard drive in it, i get a solid bottom light and slowly flashing top light.

Hard disk seems to be detecting with a sata to usb cable with external 12v supply. So I guess would need to boot it via Linux and transfer the data.

Has anyone tried to fix the board? Someone mentioned a blown capacitor, any idea which one it is?
