Aspiration

Ever since I was a kid, I have always wanted to be an engineer, more specifically a computer software engineer, because I'm fascinated by how computer software can help us solve everyday problems. After receiving my bachelor's degree, I intend to pursue a career in software engineering. I am passionate about using my knowledge to make a difference in the world through the field of software engineering.

Skills

I am a goal-oriented, determined, and detail-oriented learner with a strong desire to learn. As a computer engineering student, I am a problem solver who enjoys exploring various solutions to a problem and determining the most efficient one to save time and resources. I am also a quick learner, which makes me a good candidate for the engineering field because I am always learning new things that will benefit me in my career.

Projects/Accomplishments

As a research software engineering intern for the Purdue School of Engineering and Technology, I worked with a multidisciplinary team of engineers to create a software called "Nanovision." Nanovision is an Augmented Reality (AR) iOS app that educates children about the applications and impacts of nanotechnology. This project allowed me to hone my skills as a front-end software developer by exposing myself to the client-side design interface. I was also able to incorporate marker-based AR technologies to increase interactivity and create an "Accessibility Mode" in the software so that kids with physical disabilities can still learn about nanoscience from the app and experience some of the AR features that we created.

Repair Experience

Throughout my career as a computer software engineering student, I learned to fix multiple software-related problems on a computer via debugging and troubleshooting. Aside from that, I have also learned to fix the hardware of smartphones and computers before. In the near future, I would love to fix cameras because I am really into photography as a hobby.

Accolades

I have received multiple awards while applying to study at IUPUI. I have been awarded the International Jaguar Excellence Award, the Purdue Honors Scholar Award, and the Malaysian Legacy Scholarship.

Group/Memberships

I am actively involved in a few student professional organizations on campus, which include the director of logistics at TedxIUPUI, the president-elect of the Engineering and Technology Student Council, a member of the Student Development Funding Committee, and a member of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE) chapter at IUPUI.

Hobbies

Aside from being passionate about computer software, I am also a big fan of basketball and badminton. I enjoy doing sports during my leisure time to keep myself active both physically and mentally. Besides that, I am also into photography and have been spending a lot of my semester breaks traveling and taking pictures.

How does this project relate to me?

My involvement in this project will help me hone my professional writing skills, which will be extremely useful in my future career as a software engineer. Personally, I have been wanting to improve my writing skills, and this project will allow me to put myself in the shoes of a reader and figure out how to improve the clarity of the content in the guides and make the delivery process more effective.
