Two things... 1st be careful with surge protectors. Microsoft always go on about how that damages the machine because the psu has surge protection so you basically slowly kill it apparently. I’m on Xbox number 2 now lol 2nd I have a one s. It makes a lil hiss but ONLY when in instant on mode. If your Xbox is set to that it WILL make noise as it’s still operational to a degree. Might be why your friends one doesn’t. His might be in energy saving mode hence no noise cause it’s off. If yours is in instant on try putting it to energy saving mode and see if it still does it.
