If it is a new motherboard, then yes it must be initialized first by the correct Canon software (Note Canon no longer provides service for this model) If it is a used working MB, then it will work and operate the camera, but the adjustments were for a different unit, so color and white balance might be off as well as the CMOS data will be different, Autofocus can be effected.. This can cause color issues, digital noise in the image. So short answer is if it is a new board, it will not work unless initialized by Canon software, if used it will work but may not yield good results.
続きを読むFirst understand that the blades on the FD lenses will be stopped down when the lens is off the camera. Quick way to check the lens is to set the camera shutter speed to bulb, Set the lens to manual F22 Open the film back (be sure no film inside) and release the shutter and hold the button down. now the shutter should stay open for as long as you are holding the button. look though the film gate area and hold the camera towards a light. you should see the lens aperture hole very small, now slowly open the lens by slowing moving the ring towards the largest f-stop the lens has. as you do this the opening will get larger. if this works on all your lenses then most likely the lenses are OK. So possible cause could be wrong shutter speed, lens is not in the AE position, Not a high enough ISO for the lighting conditions.
続きを読むAll the Canon AE Series camera require a battery to operate. Here are a couple thing to check. Check/Replace battery. Check for corrosion in the battery contact area, does the bottom spring loaded contact move (it is spring loaded) You can remove the bottom cover and manually release the large magnet to see if the mechanics are working, This will release the shutter and winding mechanism so that the camera can be advanced. If this works, are the wires to both magnets still attached? Beyond this it requires a little more disassembly and knowledge of the camera's electrical system. IF the mechanism cycled then it could be a dirty contact on a switch that is inside the camera. If the camera would not let you cycle after releasing the magnet the could be that on of the plastic rivets from the top cover has come loose and gotten lodged in the advance gears. These are just some of the more common issues with the A-Series cameras.

As the author stated you do not have to completely disassemble the unit to make this repair.
I make a slight bend in the needle so it has a little bit of a hook to it. the gear that gets dry is slightly below the upper wind side lens mount screw hole. With the curved needle you can push the needle in the hole and feel around a bit till you feel the gear move. put just a very tiny drop of oil on that gear. might take a couple tries. better to do very little as to much oil will leak into the mirror box and shutter causing a oil to get on the shutter and focusing screen. Then it will have to be taken to a camera repairman for service.
