Disassembling Canon PowerShot G16

Open the battery flap on the bottom of the camera by applying pressure and pushing in the direction of the arrow.

Remove your finger and allow the flap to pop open.

Remove the ring around the lens by simultaneously pressing the black button located at the bottom right of the ring and rotating the ring counterclockwise.

Remove the newly uncovered 2.8 mm screw from the right of the viewfinder using a Phillips #00 screwdriver.

Remove the 4.9 mm screw from top right of the metal casing on the back using a Phillips #00 screwdriver.

Remove the 4.3 mm screw from bottom right of the metal casing on the back using a Phillips #00 screwdriver.

Remove the newly uncovered screws from the right of the viewfinder using a Phillips #00 screwdriver. (Note, they're already removed on the picture)

Remove the two 2.8 mm screws on the top of the lens assembly near the viewfinder using a Phillips #00 screwdriver.

…recommended disassembling the camera via iFixit instructions for the G16 (slightly different than the G15), unplugging the display, and plugging it back in again…WHICH WORKED. Did the whole thing in about 30 minutes. Awesome. Saved us a lot of money. Very grateful.

Could you describe how to disassemble and assemble the lens curtain - th esix leaves and two springs that cover the lens when the lens is retracted into the camera? I’ve tried to assemble it, but end up with the mechanism only closing 2/3rd way. It opens fine. I want to replace my scratched lens with an unscratched one, but the new one is the one with the curtain problem. Thank you!
