2008 iMac EMC 2134 graphics/video card died?

テキスト:

I have a 27 inch iMac EMC 2134 bought in 2008.

Today the screen went black after starting up. After much consulting of other articles on this site I've come to the conclusion that the graphics/video has died.

I've opened the iMac up and found that one of the three cables coming off the LCD is soldered to the board, suggesting my only solution is to replace both the graphics/video card and the LCD, or perhaps just the card and pay someone to solder in the existing LCD?

Well the machine is quite old now so perhaps it's time to throw it out and save up for a new computer.

My questions:

1. Have I come to the right conclusion about the graphics/video having died? (I've tried and external monitor which is also just black. I've also tried to boot up from an external drive but only get a solid orange screen.)

2. Would the expense of getting parts replaced (parts and labour) be better saved towards getting a new system?

3. Is it worth trying to salvage (and perhaps selling) parts of this iMac, given it's an old model now?

Confirmation and advice much appreciated.
