Try using the phone's WiFi as close as possible to your network router i.e. <10cm and check if you can connect.

If you can it may be a loose antenna connection in the phone.

Here's the ifixit [guide|133953] guide that may help.

In the image in Step.11 you can see the two antennas (white and blue wires) connected at one end of the phone. The travel down the side of the phone to be connected at the board at the other end (not shown).
