What is the process for calibrating a replacement battery?

My replacement battery came with instructions on how to calibrate it  after it was installed. The instructions told me to drain the replacement to 10% capacity and then charge it to 100%. The IFIXIT online guide advises a slightly different process. It says fully charge it for 2 hours, then drain it until it shuts off and then recharge to 100%.

Which is the optimal approach?
