There are a number of reason why the display isn’t working.
Have you tried operating the screen brightness function key (top row of keyboard) to check if this alters anything, you didn’t say?
Try shining a torch at an angle close to the screen when the laptop is on and check if you can see any images e.g. Windows desktop screen. It will be very faint if it is there so trying this in a darkened room may help to see it if it is there.
