The only experience I have with error 2012 is windows related, so not sure if you’re restoring from a windows machine. If so, it’s related to either pending windows updates  or an out of date iTunes version. Check both and apply any available update first. Reboot and try again.

If restoring on Mac, it can be caused by windows running inside parallels or VMware (or other virtualization software). Close the running VM, and the hyper visor itself to fix this.
