Blank dark screen completely

I was using my tablet 2 weeks after it was shipped to me brand new. It was working fine when all of a sudden the screen went bright white then completely blank and dark black. I could hear the sounds quite clearly but nothing on the screen picture wise. What happened to my tablet and can it be fixed?
