Danielle Rush, the first thing to try would be to reset your tablet's factory settings. Try a different cable as well. If that does not work, then it is possible that this is caused by dust, dirt, corrosion or other contamination of the USB port. Use some isopropyl alcohol and some compressed air and clean out the port. Do not stick anything in it since that my bend the pins. Lastly, it is possible that some pins of the micro-usb port have been disconnected from board so the tablet does not receive charge, and it mistakes the connection as a computer instead of a charger. This would require a disassembly and a possible resolder of the micro USB port. The MTP scanner is the media scanner that runs when the tablet thinks it might be plugged into a computer instead of a charger.
