Background and Identification
The Canon EOS 40D is the sixth digital SLR camera produced by Canon, released in August of 2007. The product line started in April, 2000 with the EOS D30. This model is identified by the name EOS 40D, located in the top right corner on the front of the device.
The Canon EOS 40D is a digital single-lens reflex camera, meaning that it is a digital camera combining the optics and the mechanisms of a single-lens reflex camera with a digital imaging sensor. The EOS 40D includes many upgrades from the previous models, including a 9 point auto focus, a 3.0” LCD monitor, and the ability to shoot 10.1 MP stills at up to 6.5 fps.
The Canon EOS 40D was replaced by the EOS 50D in August of 2008 and the EOS 70D is the newest model, which was introduced in July of 2013.
