Wii Remote Vibrating With One Light Flashing.

So I bought a wiimote plus off Ebay that wouldn't turn on. When I opened it up, one of the battery contacts fell out. Of course a dry socket would be the culprit, right? Well, no. It did power on after a day of just sitting, but with only player 3's light being on. No flashing or response to anything. So I remove the batteries and research aggressively to no avail.

Then, when I try again today, it started vibrating. It would go for one second, and stop with the fourth light pulsing until it started vibrating again. Rinse and repeat. I tried to do some more research, but of course, I seem to be the only person who's having this issue. Any help would be hugely appreciated.

Hi!

So, you replaced the battery contacts I assume? This would be the first step to be done.

When that is done, then clean the whole motherboard with isopropyl alcohol completely.

If the issue is still there, then you might want to check the motherboard. Also give it a reflow if the above didn't worked and then please test again.

Otherwise it's probably for the best to replace the motherboard.

Please let us know how it goes!

Not replaced, but I did resolder the one that fell out. The other was fine. And, thankfully, I did clean the whole thing up with IPA after. I'd suspected a bit of potential corrosion. Probably should've mentioned that. My bad.

I did not, however, try reflowing everything. I'll get on that and get back to you.

No problem at all! As long as the battery contacts are fine, it’s fine! Please let us know how it goes! Thanks!

So now it’s back to not turning on at all. No lights, no vibration, nothing. This is with freshly-charged batteries. (I use rechargeable ones to cut down on costs. Yes, I’m also cheap.) I’m starting to suspect a dead capacitor. That, or something else on the board.

Ahw.. Too bad that the issue even got worse... In this case I would just replace the motherboard (maybe you can find a broken one with as example, broken battery contacts). It could be a lot of things now causing this... Sorry.

It’s alright. Any little bit helps, after all. I appreciate your help regardless.
