To make a long story short: I tried to fix one of the speakers in my macbook, and when finished, it turns on, but the keyboard is not responsive. The cursor and the trackpad are responsive. It looks like there is a piece missing from a cable that goes from near the battery cable to the edge of the computer, where there are several copper strips. I am assuming that is the keyboard cable? And if I replace it, then it ought to work?

Can you post a few pics so we can see what you are dealing with, also take a clear sharp image of the area you think something is missing.
