Battery temperature is too low

Hi,

I have a Samsung tablet TAB 4 – SM-T530 which shows problem when charging: charging paused, battery temperature too low.

Do you know where the problem might be?

Do you know where the battery temperature sensor is located?

Do you know if the battery temperature can be overwritten in order to allow the charging?

Thank you in advance!

This issue is generally caused by liquid damage / corrosion on the charging port resulting in the device detecting short-circuit (charging pins touching each other) which stops the tablet from charging.

To fix this problem, the tablet would need to be opened off, starting from the back cover, removing the charging port daughterboard assembly and cleaning the corrosion if there is on the charging port behind or the charging port would need to be replaced as a whole if it's physically damaged or no signs of liquid damage.

If this does not end up fixing it, it is a board level which I would estimate not being worth to fix as it would get very expensive with a low chance of fixing it.

Here is link to part and guide on how to replace it if needed:

Is it the same tablet? It can be caused by a damaged charging port ribbon cable so you might want to try another charging cable.

It can also be caused by liquid damage on the logic board, that'll require circuit troubleshooting and micro-soldering to fix that.

Just had the same issue. Resolved by warming up the tablet on a heat pad and it’s charging fine now. The temperature is quite low here today (below 10 c - cold for Northern NSW, Australia) which I assume was the cause.

It may not be as suggested a baterry leak or port issues. I had the same issue when my tab got too cold I just layed on it for a bit and it worked. So if too cold find a warm spot and if too hot find a cold spot for about 5-10 mins. If no change then maybe it is an internal problem.

My Samsung T290, bought second hand in the UK during last summer, has had this problem all winter.  For a long time, I just thought later technology was protecting lithium batteries better in later models.  Later, the thought evolved to thinking it was over-protective, so began to wonder at what temperature should this stop happening.

I only started looking for forum comments about it today when I found the same thing happening on a morning where the air temperature on my way to a library to do the research was about 12o C.

I note the previous comments.  During the winter, the tablet has been charged via several cables, so it is not a cable issue.  I am now really concerned about the situation because it now looks as though there might be a real fault with the sensor on or near the USB socket.  If it is a corrosion problem, it is certainly not through any mishap I have had with rain or other water but during the winter, there was often condensation on the screen when the case was opened indoors, so it could have got into the USB socket as well.

Someone had a model with a removable battery but the T290 and T295, for example, do not have removable batteries, so I am currently stuck with this problem.  The only consolation is, I have discovered it is a real issue before this winter has quite come to an end, so the morning air is still quite cool – apparently still cool enough to show up the problem.
