My printer wont scan.
It used to but now it won't. I also can't figure out how to reset up the wireless feature--it only funcions as a printer connected with USB to my computer.
Please help!

what operating systemhave you installed ?
maybe the drivers must be re-installed in order to use the scanner.
resetting the wifi should work like this:
1. Press the Scan button (it also the Wireless menu button)
2. Select Wireless Settings
3. Scroll down and select Restore Network Defaults. Press Yes to acknowledge
4. The radio will turn off (the blue LED will go out). Select Enable Wireless
5. Select WPS
6. Select Push Button

hi Ralph, thanks so much for your reply. It almost is working. When I get to stage 6, it's getting hung up, but I'll keep trying.
It is still getting hung up while searching for the wireless connection, even though I have one. Any other ideas?
i've read about problems with this printer and osx - since you didn't tell us whatt computer you have, i can only guess that you are also running osx. try adding the printer again - it helped many others with the scanning issue
Reinstalling the drivers seemed to ultimately do the trick. Thanks so much for your help!

All you need to do is try by going to HP.com website and find the latest and updated driver for your device. Un-install the existing driver and the install it with new fresh driver and scan software.
Hopefully this shall solve your problem.

Install the All-in-one driver for hp photosmart c4780; it worked for me. I had the same problem like everyone of you. it was really hard to find this solution. it was a trial and error solution, but it finally worked.

the original answer from almost two years ago says "the drivers must be re-installed in order to use the scanner" so pretty much the same thing that you are saying....:-)

What computer are you connect to? What system are you running? When you did your last system upgrade did you go to HP and download the drivers for that system?
