Background
The Canon PowerShot G12 is a 10-megapixel lightweight, high-performance device capable of HD video with stereo sound. This model is an upgrade of its predecessor, the G11, capable of a higher resolution video mode, a new front control dial, a greater choice of aspect ratios, and an HDR mode, to name a few. It is also slightly larger. The model is solely manufactured in black. In 2013, the G12 model was replaced by the Canon PowerShot G16, the latest in Canon's G series. In 2011, there was a minor issue which was resolved through contact with the manufacturer in which the zoom and setting buttons were sticking due to an internal hardware issue. There have been no reported problems since on a mass scale.
Identification
You can verify that you have the G12 model by looking at the front of the camera in the lower left-hand corner on the battery case.
