Background and Identification
The Amazon Fire TV Cube is matte black, with a blue illuminated light bar on the front face of the device. The dimensions of the cube are 3.4” x 3.4” x 3.0”. On the back panel there are four ports designated for cords: Micro-USB, infrared, HDMI, and the power cord. There are two buttons located on the top of the device that control the volume and two action buttons. The + and - raise or lower the volume,the solid white circle awakens Alexa , and the circle with a slash mutes or unmutes the microphone. The remote is black with six black controls: rewind, pause, menu, home, back, and fast forward. The black ring controls selecting and navigation on device and the top microphone button activates voice command on the remote.
The Amazon Fire TV Cube is a hands-free streaming media player with Alexa and voice control that allows you to turn on the TV, dim the lights, play and stream music and tv, and other commands. With Alexa on Fire TV Cube, you can control compatible TVs, sound bars, and A/V receivers. You cannot use your voice to change channels through an over-the-air HD antenna. With Alexa you can browse, search, and change channels within supported apps.
The Fire TV Cube, which was released on June 21, 2018, is considered the to be next step in the Fire TV product line that now offers 13 different product packages. The Amazon Fire TV Cube’s main features are Alexa, which is used for voice control, and a TV control center. The Cube was designed for a customer to be able to use their voice first to request demands, unlike other products that require you to push a button before Alexa will be active. On October 31, 2018, Amazon released a new Alexa Voice Remote that will now be marketed with the Fire TV Cube as a replacement for the original remote.
