Stuck on low battery screen

I haven't used my kindle in a while and I let the battery completely die for several months (I know, not smart). I plugged it in last night and gave it a good 24 hour charge. The charging light turned green so I assume that means it is charged but the screen is stuck on the low battery screen and won't do anything else. I changed power cords, did hard resets, and even plugged it into my computer. With the hard reset the green light would blink twice, then the yellow light would blink 5 times, then it would go back to solid green. I assume the battery is just toast but does anyone have any other ideas before I try to replace?

@devinv10297 when a lithium-ion battery sits completely discharged for months drops the cell voltage below the safety threshold.. The battery's internal protection circuit will permanently disable the battery.

A solid green light on your device indicates that the motherboard has stopped supplying power. That does not mean your battery is fully charged ;) Try this: Connect your Kindle to a wall charger. Press and hold the power button for 60 seconds. If it does not turn on after doing this, remove the cover as shown in this teardown Kindle Paperwhite 第11世代の分解 Unplug the battery from the motherboard. Press and hold the power button for 30 seconds to discharge the motherboard's capacitors. Connect the battery to the motherboard and plug the charger back in. If you continue to receive the blinking light error code after all of this, then your battery is dead.
