Paper not going in

I have an old hp laserjet p1102. Looks similar to yours. Getting a bit old (2005 vintage!) which means the rubber paper feed roller is hard and has lost its grip. If you can reach it (it's the oval shaped roller in the centre of the feed at the top) clean it with a rag dipped in meths or benzine. This often softens the feed rubber but isn't always a permanent cure.

Here's what I do when it tries to pick up the first paper in the feed deck (I hear three or four distinct clicking sounds as it tries to grip the sheet). I got myself a rubber finger tip which I use to gently push the sheet in while it tries to feed it making the clicking sounds. Once it takes the sheet, stop feeding it by finger. Also make sure your paper deck is not too thick or too thin, is stacked neatly and square and pushed in all the way into the paper take up slot. Once the first sheet is finger tip fed in and taken up and the rest positioned as above, the following sheets usually get fed in normally.

Each time you replace the stack, feed the first one in by finger.

In days gone by one used to get paper feed replacement parts for these printers. Maybe you can try - which is a long shot - else go for the cheap rubber finger.
