Filling up with water

What is the make and model number of the washing machine?

If the machine is filling with water when it is not in use, it sounds like a water inlet solenoid valve hasn't closed properly.

If there are two water supply hoses connected to the machine i.e. hot and cold water, first turn on and drain the machine (run a spin cycle) of any water then turn it off when it's empty.

Then close one of the water inlet taps that the water inlet hoses from the machine are connected to and check if there's water entering the machine.

If there isn't, close the open tap and open the tap that was closed and check for water entering the machine.

This way you will know which inlet solenoid valve is the problem.

If there's only one water supply hose connected i.e. cold water, then close the tap and check if any water is still getting into the machine. If not then the solenoid valve is faulty and needs to be replaced.
