Camera no longer turning on

my friend took her Canon Powershot G7 to a repair shop as her camera isn’t turning on anymore. They told her that there’s no issue with the battery and it is probably an electrical problem. However, since the camera is old now, he won’t do the repair. I wanted to ask if anyone has experience in sending their Cameras to be repaired to individuals who are experienced in repairing older canon cameras (preferably somewhere in Europe)

I don't know of anyone (I'm in the US), but try and clean the battery contacts inside the camera and on the battery. Sometimes rust or oxidization can build up over time and stop the electrical current from getting to the motherboard. Use a cotton swab dampened with high-concentration isopropyl alcohol or distilled white vinegar to dissolve corrosion. Gently swab back and forth and get into the corners. Then, use a dry swab or two to dry up the contacts and replace the battery. Hope it helps!

@zuzitv we usually do not make any recommendation for repair centers. Those Recommendations are never really objective since every person may have a different experience. We only recommend those that are known to us as a community. If anything, I would post this on one of the European iFixit sites. Check the Globe on the top right of this page. Click on it and select a European country that you are comfortable with.

As always, check your battery and your battery connector. I would even suggest to get a new battery. Makes eru that you rbattery is closed and that the micro switch on that door is still engaging. Anything after that will require some internal inspection as this could be an issues with the DC-DC board (common)
