Getting the 2162-0002 error message when microSD card is inserted

If a microSD card is inserted I get the error message 2162-0002. With the microSD card slot empty everything works normally. I tried to switch the microSD card module, without success. The module works in a different switch and a working module give the same error when connected. This is a picture of the connector as I was not able to identify any faults myself (unless this spec in the middle on the left hand side has any meaning?).

Was able to clean it with a toothbrush. Still getting the same error

Sounds like you've done quite a bit of testing. My first thought on this was definitely the connector and I'll be interested to see pictures. But just to make sure, have you also tried other microSD cards?

Thanks for your feedback!

I tried several microSD cards and the same microSD card in a different switch. All seem to be working. Just not with that specific switch

Hi!

I take a look at the pictures, the connector does not look good at the left side.

The pin where it need to connect there at left top and lower side look squished.

I'm afraid you need to replace that one. It won't be easy as soldering is required to fix it.

Do you have any soldering experience? If not, I would bring it to a local repair shop.

I have some soldering experience, but this would require micro-soldering, which is a very delicate work - So in that case I am not sure if I should try it and possibly cause more damage. Will have to really think it through..

@spicyshaks23109 Soldering these sorts of connectors definitely takes some practice. Aside from the fact that it's so tiny, melting is a hazard because of the plastic bits. A hot air station (rather than just a soldering iron) would also make this much easier.

If it's something you're committed to fixing, you can practice first on some old cell phones. They might even be trickier because the board will be more densely populated with components than a Switch. But these type of FPC connectors are often found on cell phones.
