The completely redesigned Optima, sharing the same platform as its sibling Hyundai i40, named the Kia K5 in the South Korean and China market, made its world debut at the 2010 New York Auto Show.

What sensor causes this error?

Block Image

I have redacted the VIN, nothing more

So this issue is not new - the last time it occurred on this car, the mirror was known bad and apparently at the time, intermittent until it hard failed. I replaced the mirror with an aftermarket part and it was good for ~2-3 months after calibration, but the issue has come back. I scanned it, cleared it and outside of the known TPMS codes which persist because at the time I forgot about it, the ADAS code is persistent.

The only other thing I can think here is with the C207354 code coming back is the bumper sensor is at fault. Looking for a second opinion.

@nick I concur and this does seem to come from the bumper sensor. Check Kia's TSB BLIND SPOT DETECTION (BSD) SYSTEMon that one. Looks like it's time for some reflashing ;-)

I have read these are prone to liquid in the connector. Might be worth a look before having a reflash done. I did see the TSB but was looking around for other ideas.

@nick according to the TSB seems like a common error with this model

@oldturkey03 Figures. I at least have the TSB and can push them to fix it for free, and receipts with the code from the scanner, with and without the TPMS codes to show it is persistent.

So the car was beyond calibration and not subject to the TSB and apparently it came back, so the bumper sensor is dead on that side. Welp, at this point at least I know the rear bumper is coming off to get to it :/. The expensive DIY part is the ADAS scanner >_<. Even OTOFIX (cheaper Autel) doesn't have anything that can do ADAS.

The irony is to get it professionally calibrated after swapping the part out is the cost to have a shop do the reset after replacing the part (and checking the frame for damage just in case) to be sure it doesn't come back is it's as expensive as buying the scanner, pairing it to the car and then letting it calibrate in traffic xD.
