Given your phone is around six years old, I'd start with a new battery. Chances are it can no longer hold a full charge (or any charge at all, for that matter).
This guide shows you how to replace it. On your phone it's pretty straight-forward, mostly just needing a thin opening tool and a small phillips screwdriver.
