Worth to replace panel in monitor?

I bought a rog pg32u monitor for 25 bucks. I was hoping for it to be all good but the panel in it is completely shattered. Would it even be worth getting a new panel? Also where would I get a new one and how much would it cost?

Hi @foyn9gyvnwcccsw

There are 13 Asus PG32U model variants e.g. PG32UQ, PG32UQX, PG32UC etc so you need to make sure that your getting the correct panel for your model to ensure that is compatible and will work with the boards in the monitor.

Easiest way to find out is to disassemble the monitor and look for the Asus part number located on the back of the display panel itself and then search online for Asus (insert part number) to hopefully find suppliers and the price you want.

Hello, I am going to be honest with you. Replacing the panel will be very uneconomic. Probably costing you more than the monitor is worth, if you find a replacement. I see a ton of these broken lcd monitors on the aftermarket not going away for even 5 bucks since they are considered unrepairable or spare parts. You will probably make more money of it by selling the parts individually with the mainboard, tcon board being the most lucrative.

In this case I would actually need this specific model broken. Personally I wouldn't pay more than 15 bucks for the whole monitor on the aftermarket. But I have a suggestion. Usually if you want to get a replacement part to fix it, you will probably get the whole screen (including diffuser, backlight etc.) since it is one part. If you want to make more money of it you will probably sell the mainboard etc. I just need the already broken screen. Actually only the light guide plate and the backlight led if they are still fine and I could pay you 10 bucks for it.

So just to make it clear for you it would probably not make a difference since you would have to replace the panel altogether if you want to fix it and if you want to sell it you would probably throw away the broken panel and just sell the other more valuable parts. You now have a buyer for a throw away part you probably can't really do anything with and no one else would need. :)
