Age: Just past the warranty period
Both the ‘Reset water filter’ and ‘Reset air filter’ indicators are on. The manual clearly states “15: Air Filter The display shows the current status of the air filter (Good, Order, or Replace). To reset the filter status to Good, press and hold Air Filter for 3 seconds.” I have done this, but the indicator is still lit. Exact same thing for the water filter.
What else can I try?

Can't say for sure, but have you tried physically removing and replacing the filter? If it has sensors such that it can tell if it's installed then it might not allow a reset unless it thinks the filter has been replaced.

My understanding is that the filters are simply timer based and that they do not measure anything.

Try pushing the filter in a fraction more so that you hear it click.
If it won't go in any further, turn off the water and remove the new filter and reinsert the old filter (until you hear it click into place) and check if you get water.
Sometimes replacement filters if they're not OEM are not exactly the correct specifications regarding the tabs so it doesn't quite fit correctly to open the valves in the filter housing when it's inserted.
