Why is my boot device not found?

When I turn on my HP laptop it displays Boot not found and insists to install an operating system on the hard disk. Also it overheats and does not run the windows administrator.

@keylow "no boot device found" is usually an indication of a failed hard drive, failed SSD, or a corrupt OS. You can try and get into the BIOS of your computer by tapping away on the ESC or F10 key as soon as you power on laptop. Once you accessed the BIOS check if your computer even recognizes a HDD/SSD. If it does that change to boot order to a USB port and use a bootable USB drive to access your computer and your hard drive. You could try to reinstall the OS or if the BIOS does not recognize a HDD/SSD, replace it with a new drive and OS.

The more pressing issue is the overheating. That need to be fixed before you "cook" the processor. Check the fan, heatsink and since it already overheated, replace the thermal paste.

To help you with any of that, we will need to know the exact model for your HP Laptop.
