GE Profile Range - touchpad is unresponsive

i just bought a scratch and dent GE PGS930YPFS with a broken door glass, should have been an easy enough fix.

but i ran into 2 other problems, hopefully only 1. the display board lights up, the clock shows up, and the oven lights turn on, but the touch pads non responsive.

i also found an unplugged wire thats part of the range interface harness. im hoping this is the power/control plug for the touch pad.

now the real problem is that i cant find where this stupid plug plugs in. ive spent a couple of hours on it, looking over every module and plug, but i just cant find it.

does anyone know where this thing plugs in to?

Please confirm the full model number of the range as there are 6 model variants i.e. PGS930YP1FS, -2FS, -3FS.... 6FS and whilst 4 models (-1FS, 2FS, 3FS & 5FS) are virtually the same the other two (4FS & 6FS) aren't the same as the other 4.

Looking at the mini manual for the 4 models, the 3 wire plug that you have linked, connects between the WiFi board, located on the panel manifold (see image below) and the RJ45 jack located on the back cover.

Unfortunately I cannot find the mini manual (GE part # 31-2000940) so I can't help with the other two models.

It may just be a faulty touch board. Unfortunately it is available only as a complete module comprising both the touch controls and the control board, so you may be out of luck.

Perhaps check if the cables inserted into the connectors on the board are all in OK. (see image)

Here's an image of the board used in the 4 similar models that may help - GE part # WB27X42946 (part number of board used in the other 2 models is WB27X45672)

Nothing really obvious but was wondering what is highlighted in the image below. It looks just about the size to fit an RJ45 socket but maybe not

You may have to trace the 3 wire cable from the WiFi module and see where it goes.

Looking at an image of the wifi board it seems to be on the right of the display as viewed in the image you posted above.

hi, its the PGS930YP4FS

and i thought it looked like a telephone jeck/ rj45, but for the life of me i just do not see one anyplace.

and yes, resetting the wiring was one of my next steps in troubleshooting - after i plugged this plug in.

pictures of my actual unit were just added to the original post.

i didnt think there was anything there, but i thought you might be on to something looking at it.

and you were. i took a close look at a new unit and that plug i have doesnt plug into anything at all. it instead clips into that square and provides an access port for i assume diagnostics.

which sets me back to square one on the control board...

Any guarantee/warranty on the purchase of a scratch and dent GE PGS930YPFS?

If so it may be worthwhile pursuing that given the cost of a replacement board.

@jayeff nope, as is where is.

ive had pretty good luck on a lot of these scratch and dent units over the years, but it looks like this one might cost me a couple of bucks to fix. i cant complain too much though, given what i paid for the unit and that it retails for 2700.

If you're going to have to replace the touch/board assembly then according to 2 parts suppliers the replacement part number is WB27X45672. (superseded part # NLA was WB27X41895)

Perhaps verify the number on yours first and then search online for the part number only to find suppliers.

I've found that looking for the part number provides more results than just looking for the appliance make and model number parts as the same part can be used in a lot of models but sellers may not know this and don't list every compatible model where it can be used.
