@customerca14414 - Well it does look like the shutter blades are not damaged which often happens. It looks like either shutter charging holding magnet slipped or the release magnet didn’t grab.

Basically there is a small motor which sets the shutter back to a charged state so the coils which are wrapped around the magnets release the spring stored kinetic energy to first let the first shutter go, then the second is release depending on needed exposure window. Just like a film camera does.

Carefully clean the magnets armatures and holding bars using 90% isopropyl alcohol, and some small puffs of cotton wrapped around tweezers just slightly dampened.

You should be able to charge the magnets and release them, just be gentle as you can bend things.

Dan,

Stumbled today over this side and saw you reacted to a similar problem I encountered with my Mark III. As I am a total novice could you explain where I can find the magnets armatures and holding bars?

Would really appreciate it.

Kind regards,

Wim

You will need to disassemble a good portion of the camera to gain access to them. Review this guide Olympus OM-D E-M10 Mark II Motherboard Replacement once you get to step 8 you will need to navigate thru the ribbon cables on the left to locate them.
