8 How to safely remove the microphone?
I need to remove the microphone from a 2014 model, reason is for a middle case swap over. The microphone (Pictured below) is different to 2012-13 models and is NOT just a small piece that can be removed easily as it is just stuck on with some tape or glue in the earlier models..... I guess a Heat gun? Recommended temperature to use?

The 2014 has an Arabic keyboard that I want to change to a US layout (Whole middle case empty aluminum frame only will be used) from a donor 2012 (Same screw layouts etc) so it can be done.
Not sure that would work here as the case is physically different for the dual microphones unlike the older model.

@danj Yes it looks like there are 2 tiny holes for the sound to enter correct? Then out comes my new mini drill with 0.3mm and I believe I have a smaller bit to make that 2nd tiny hole :) Once I can remove the microphone I can then compare the casing shape to see if it can get in there.

@livfe - Yes there are two holes.

@danj Until I actually remove the 2014 microphone from the casing I cannot see if the casing has a different shape for it to fit, also there is one screw type thing just in front of the microphone, haven't tried removing it as yet to see its purpose, presume it just helps to hold it in position.

@danj Asking before I have checked,, could I use the I/O board from the 2012 with the 2012 microphone on the 2015? The connections I think are the same (Would get around the dual mic issue and the mic connector issue)......Yes the camera connector cable is longer but might be possible to find a way on that.... bad idea .....
