Rather than relying on indirect radiation, convection, or thermal conduction, induction uses the magnetic aspects of the metal pot to oscillate the magnet field so results in resistive heating to cook your food.

Chip out of cooktop

How can I repair a small chip broken of the smog induction cooktop?

It happened when a knife was dropped hitting the side.

Only small but noticeable

Thanks

Is the damage along the edge or near the coil areas? Can you post a few pics so we can see the damage clearly.

If you have the chip and it fits cleanly in the space you could try a good cyanoacrylate glue like Loctite 1364076 Super Glue Easy Squeeze Gel. But it can’t be near the heated area as over time it will degrade.

If the chip is on the surface and/or you don’t have the loose piece you could use a black epoxy filler. First taping down the area to protect the rest of the area and limit creep of the area being filled. Keep in mind you may end up with a bump or still have a divot where the hole is. Using a knife to trim it may put the fill out and you don’t want to sand as the glass surface will then get scratched.

The bottom line it might be just better to accept the damage than trying to fix it.
