How to fix a Trackpad with no click function? (2009-2015)

The Battery CC is 180 Normal condition and no swelling.

I have tried to adjust the silver diamond shaped screw but it is stuck solid.... having compared it to other cases and it looks fine.... It doesn't work even in recovery mode. I think it is highly unlikely a board issue, the connector is fine, maybe only ever once or twice removed when I have worked on it.... Will update.

@livfe - The click plate adjustment is the issue. This series uses a simple blister switch which you can see in the triangle cutout in the middle the set screw adjustment sets when the blister is depressed causing the click action both physically (feel) as well as electrically. You’ll need to use some solvent if the screw is locked. I also find driving in out going forward often is more successful than trying to back it out, but the trackpad will need to be removed first to offer the clearance.

@danj Yeah I got it free and adjusted it and it seemed to have done the trick.

But then this happened to my struggling 2009 A1278 which had the stage lights > no lights so I cannot test it right now lol

@livfe - Thats a different issue which needs a different Q!

We need to keep things organized otherwise we all get confused. Clearly a different issue right? 🤷‍♂️

@danj Dan, I adjusted the screw and I cannot test it because the lights went out totally when I restarted it .... what am I supposed to say? Anyway this 2009 is done. Not spending anymore time or money on it, one thing after another going wrong on it.
