Display bad after humidity

Yes, it's an old laptop, and I left for 2 weeks, and it rained and it was humid and now the laptop's display doesn't work - there's backlight but its all grey. Occasionally some faded image will peep through from behind. secondary display works fine. How do I fix it? clean the corrosion with ISO alcohol?

@breathlungs absolutely. I would try and clean the display connector and the cable ends with sum +90% isopropyl alcohol. Next use the Dell Inspiron N7110 Service MAnual starting on page 89 and disassemble the display. Clean those parts as well. The only thing you can't clean is the inside of the LCD, that is the only drawback right now.

If none of that works, you would have to consider replacing the display. For now, clean it well and see what is going on with it.

Thanks. Is it ever possible to figure out where the corrosion might be by looking at the failing display and how its glitching? Or is it still just a guess either way?

@breathlungs no way to pinpoint a component for us, since it is a signal issue and not a power issue. You would need to have the complete schematics for the driver board and then use an oscilloscope to check those data lines. In your case you will have to stick with the general approach and consider any component as the culprit.
