How to replace broken hinge?

I have done this repair and as someone who has done repairs on laptops for a very long time. This was my absolute least favorite repair ever. I ended up having to replace the entire screen as well as both of the hinges. This is a well known problem with this laptop which I suspect why no one wants to touch it. Even the slightest flex of the screen which must be taken out to do this repair will crack the outer layer of glass and you will end up having to replace it.

I would caution anyone attempting to repair this issue on the machine and would likely turn down the next one I see for repair as well. It is simply and honestly put not something that can be done easily and even when completed. I can see this happening again because of the poor design of the hinge system overall.

I'm not saying you cannot do it, I am saying go ahead and order an extra screen from the start. you are likely gonna need it.

If you do replace it moving forward after replacement use both hands always to open the screen equal distance apart as a single hand open will put more force on one of the hinges and this is how it fails.
