Cinema Display Camera stopped working
Hi. The camera on my 24" 2008 Cinema Display has stopped working. Has anyone been able to fix this? I don't want to replace because everything else works fine.

I would recommend, leaving things alone and just get a standard Mac USB camera. The rub here is locating the replacement parts. If you can find a parts display take the time to pull it apart to see how things fit.

Thank you. Why did I not think of this? In my innocence I thought USB cameras were a thing of the past. A quick search reveals they are very obviously NOT! Have now ordered one. :-)

@suet45180 It is not as bad as you may think. Use the Apple technician Guide from here Apple LED Cinema Display 24" under Documents. Page 68 tells you how to remove the camera. Replacement cameras are available at many places like this Or look for Apple part number 922-9363 (922-8511 if yours is an early 2008 display)
The manual will also assist you with troubleshooting your camera just in case there is more going on.
Now if this appears to be a too daunting task for you, stick with a Mac USB camera. You got some options here :-)

Thank you for all this information. I'm very impressed. Techie son-in-law is here in a few weeks and I am putting him on the parts/fix trail as camera is very clearly dead. Meanwhile, in my innocence I thought USB cameras were a thing of the past. A quick search reveals they are very obviously not! Have now ordered one to keep me going. :-)
