Can the SSD be replaced
Can the SSD be replaced or increased in size?

Hi Mkozy,
Unfortunately, Apple has started soldering down their SSD's in an attempt to prevent user upgrades.
This means that the only way to increase your available storage space is to buy a new one.
Luckily there is a work around. You can connect external SSD drives through your Mac's USB-C ports which will increase its storage capacity but you will have to take them with you whenever you want to use the files stored on those drives.
I'm Sorry this fix isn't really ideal.

When did they start doing that? I know some chromebooks do that with RAM and some of the drives that are in them? But Apple? I imagine they are trying to take the upgrade/repair right away from the owner which is nothing new. Do you know what models they started to do that with? What year?
@anthonying45356 Apple Started to solder down their SSD's in 2016 as well as the ram back in 2012
Granted, you can in theory upgrade the SSD. The caveat to this being that you would likely need to have micro-soldering experience, and an SSD from a donor motherboard.
