power sliding door malfunction

The passenger side power sliding door keeps opening and closing and will not stop, there is no manual operation for this door. It worked briefly after buying, (bought used about 2 years ago). With the on/off switch disabled, the door finally closed but not completely, the dashboard light states door open. Absolutely no one knows how to fix this problem....including the dealership. Any suggestions?

I have the same problem. Are you able to fix it based on this information?

さんによる

I had this problem as well, this time it turns out a pin got stuck inside the door, moved the pin out and it's just fine now, I did unhook the plug in the back of my car, it stopped all dinging and also stopped my car door from working on its own. I tried taking it apart to clean it but my clips won't come out for me with out breaking on my 2007 Saturn relay. Good luck everyone on fixing your doors (the pin that got stuck is part of like 5-7 pins that stick out when you look at the pins)

さんによる

Simply remove fuse number21 on the inside fuse panel and larger fuses labeled 24 and 25. The two larger ones (also located inside) are for each doors actuator, fuse 21 is the psd or passenger sliding door fuse. Once those are removed ringing will stop, no drain on your battery from "open door" warning will occur, and your simply left to open and close your doors by hand.

I understand that the 2006 Buick Terraza van the only van that Buick ever made is a sister than to this vehicle listed above and we are having the exact same problem with our passenger side sliding door so are the fuse numbers the same so we can remove those dumb things? Plus we're going to attempt to take some pliers and make sure all the pins are pulled out completely on that side. Post

We have a 2005 Relay 3. Same issues. We will see if fuse suggestion helps in our case. I will have the mechanic check first and clean the pins on both doorways too. Thank you !

Skip, just did a quick look around and it seems that this is a common problem. First check on the fuses in the instrument panel fuse box. 1st= 15amp, #21, power SLD Door and 2nd RT SLD DOOR,#25, 40 amp. You can pull them out and look to see if they are okay, use a multimeter too check those.

The door is controlled by the" power sliding door module (PSDM) monitors the door position at all times including during manual operation. The PSDM supplies the power and ground to operate the power sliding door (PSD) motor and clutch. The direction of the motor rotation is determined by which of the motor control circuits is supplied 12 volts and which is grounded. The PSDM varies the current flow through the motor ground circuit to control the speed of the motor as necessary. The clutch enables the PSD to be operated manually when de-energized, or by the motor when energized. The PSDM uses the PSD detent switch to determine when the door is latched, ajar, or open. The detent switch is part of the sliding door lock assembly. The detent switch signal circuit is supplied 12 volts through a resistor within the module. The signal circuit is briefly pulled to ground as the door moves from latched to ajar while opening, or from ajar to latched while closing. The detent switch signal and ground circuits, along with all other PSD circuits, are connected to the body harness through the sliding door contact plungers and B-Pillar contact pads when the plungers and pads are in contact with one another. The unlatch actuator is responsible for latching and unlatching the PSD." So, this may be something you need to start looking at. I will try and get the repair manual and will let you know. Hope this is a start to get you going.

Thank you for the info. I need to find the proper fuse to pull, for it does not show on the fuse box diagram. Merry Christmas to you and family.

If you are not an auto techie kind of person, I fixed this problem on my 2007 Saturn Relay by first: pushing the switch on the overhead center console panel to operate the rear doors in manual mode rather than automatic; 2) opened the rear plastic panel that conceals the tire jack; 3) unplugged the top grey plug that is located right in front of the jack (controls the automatic door, including the alarm). That was to stop the infernal dinging because apparently the sensor of the automatic door on the passenger side is bad. It works perfectly now in manual mode, and no dinging.

Hello, my nephew fixed the problem by bending a pin back on the sliding door. It works perfectly now. I am contacting him to get the specifics of just what he did and will post when I hear back from him.

Skip, What pin exactly did your nephew bend? Picture of it? Or a more detailed explanation of what he did? We have been having this issue forever, it's been in and out of the mechanic and they "fix" it and after a while it just starts doing it again.

Please HELP!!!

Hello, I have just put another call in to my nephew and will respond with the information as soon as I hear back from him. Sorry for the delay....he works at a CT dealership as a technical expert fixing these kind of problems and is always busy. My sliding door has worked perfectly since he fixed it and I'm anxious to get this repair info to you. Skip

I just spoke to my nephew and hoping I can relay the information he gave me correctly, he said when the door is all the way open look for the "pin switch" at the bottom of the door on the body, take the switch out of the body to disconnect it then push it closed . He strongly suggested to bring the car to a GM dealer as they can fix this problem, if you are in CT I can tell you where he works if you were to choose to bring it to him, the kid's a genius. I hope I relayed this information correctly, I have had no problems since he repaired it.

I have a 2006 Buick Terazza. My passenger automatic sliding door has not work on and off for about 2 years now. Finally got it to shut and then told no one to use it. But someone made that mistake and I had to manually shut it again, but the chime will not turn off this time around. It is so irritating. I then realized the chime was on "loud" and not average (from reading the auto manual) and got it turned down to average which helped a ton with the noise factor.

The bottom line - took it to the dealer to address an ABS light on all the time - and at that time I asked them to unplug the automatic door motor (which also controls the chime) and problem solved - no more annoying chime. I have no problem closing the doors manually.

I have a 2005 buick terezza with the same problems. Taking the fuses out fixed the dinging and door opening by itself. About 2 months later my door sttopped opening manually. My fiance let someone help her try to open it and he broke the handle. That was about a year ago. I finally got around to ordering the new handle, But I can't get the door to open now manually or electronically. It will open a little bit, seems to come completly unlocked but will now slide back. Any help would be appreciated

Having the same problem. Lots of weird stuff with the Terraza van over the last 11 years. Probably why they only made it a few years. Funny that with so many complaints on these issues there are no recalls. Okay, done with my venting and now to my question. What fuse did you remove to stop the dinging?

Just bought a 2006 Terraza with 170,000 miles. Yesterday I pulled the drivers side sliding door handle to open it and the handle popped out and heard pieces falling inside. Impossible to open door from the outside, but can from the inside. Passenger side sliding door appears locked now and cannot open it on either inside or outside now. These are non-motorized doors. Any suggestions?

I tried everything on my 2007 Buick Terraza. The chime would sound even when the door was closed, the button to open and close the door only worked part of the time, and sometimes the door would even open when driving down the road. I tried all the suggestions I could find and nothing worked. Even the mechanic was stumped. So I "fixed" it permanantly. I disbled the power feature of the door entirely, and disconnected the motor cables so the doors slide easily. The procedure I used is here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=R9RoNBAF...

I have a 2005 Saturn Relay. Only had the power sliding door on the right side, but I had the problems that so many others did. I'm pretty sure I also used this YouTube video to pull the three fuses and disconnect the cables. Manual door. No problems. Simple. Easy.

It's a little daunting because you're taking the door apart, and be sure that you rest the door on a 5 gallon bucket. Works great. That door is heavy and you don't wanna damage the slider connections.

take the sliding door and open, the metal pins (7) of them come out of the door. take a small screw driver and pry open the plastic holder these pins come through. once you get it out about 1/4 in you can push it back in and pull out the two black plastic put in securing bolts (not really bolts, more like plastic anchors).

put the plastic unit out. look at the assy close, take it appart and clean the grease and crud off the pins and notice the springs come out as well as the pins.

the problem is the contacts that grasp the pins conduct current for the signal and need to be stressed with the pin out so that when you put it back together it is tight to the pins.

try that and clean the pads on the door post but make sure you don't contact more than one at as they may pass current between each other if you use a conductive cleaner like a emory cloth.

don't shine too much on the 7 pads.

Black: I can not get the door to close at all. Manual or auto. I pulled so hard on the door that I pulled the top roller out of the track, in turn bent the track where the roller come out. The cables seem to be jammed. Any ideas. thanks Black.

Dealing with the same problem. My driver's side sliding door is now stuck shut & we can't get it back open. We'd been using it in manual mode for about a year when it all-oif-a-sudden started dinging for no reason at all. The door was shut, it was dinging. I opened the door, still dinging. When I tried to shut it, it fought me pulling it back open. I finally got it shut and it's stuck. It will NOT budge. Took it to a Saturn authorized repair center. They said they could try to remove the door panel, but it might break in the process...and there are no replacements available. So... we did what another user suggested and unplugged the cables inside the plastic box where the jack is. Now, both sliding doors are disabled, only one will open, and THE STUPID BELL IS STILL DINGING!!! Unreal. I don't understand how a company can manufacture a car where so many people have the same problem, and yet, they are not providing a fix for it. Very sad.

I have a 2005 Saturn Relay. Was having the same problem. Door would randomly open or stick open with chime driving me crazy. Finally a complete failure happened and the door refused to stay closed. Turns out that the electrical assembly with 7 pins had completely fallen apart inside the door. The part #12457713. GM was selling online for $50. Now has a new part # and is sold only as a kit for $188. I was able to home repair the existing for $4 in parts from local hardware store. This part is very poorly made and prone to failure. This is scary, considering this is were we are told our children are safest in the vehicle.

Any way you could share what you purchased form the hardware store to fix it? I'm pretty sure that's at least part of our problem on the passenger side. Thank you.

I would love to know what parts you bought to fix it yourself. Please! I am having this problem with my 2005 Terraza.

Sell the van would be the best fix for this. You can pop off the plungers portion from the sliding door. Take the assembly apart and you see where the plunger rods pass through metal relay looking things. That may be where you are loosing continuity to the plungers. Take it all apart clean it and try to bend those relay looking things to where they will be tighter on the ringer rods. Put it all back together and turn the slider off manual. It is easy to fix but the assembly will fall apart on you but don't worry you will figure it out

I unplugged door motor. pop off trim behind passenger door by third seat on top. motor wiring leads to switch. I unplugged top gray wire harness on top of switch on 2006 montana. Door doesn't work with power anymore but can open and close it manually. No more ding ding and door stays opened or closed which ever you want.

I found the fuse box for the PSD on the right side of the front dash. Open the passenger front door, and you'll see the panel at the top of the dash. Remove the panel (there's a clip on the bottom), and you'll find a diagram inside the panel of the fuse locations. I removed 21 (PSD) as well as 24 and 25 (LH PSD and RH PSD). No more dinging.

Reading older posts and have the problem of my driver read sliding door not staying closed. Just keeps opening no matter whether I use my remote or switches above. I had to let it close and immediately deactivate it with the overhead switch to keep it closed. But the open door chime is driving me nuts. Tried to locate the gray wire, but the only one around my jack is further inside the opening toward the front. We unhooked it and it did nothing to the chime. Removed fuses and did not help. I am a 62-year old woman caring for my disabled husband and I can't take pin mechanisms out tne do whatever. I also can't afford to take it in and have them run diagnostics and whatever. Any other (new) solutions to this issue?

Thanks much!

So sorry for you. I know exactly how annoying that dinging is. We had to completely disconnect the wires in the back of the van, so neither door opens or closes automatically now. In fact, our driver's side sliding door won't open at all anymore. It's stuck, and the dealership said if they try to open it, it could break...and they don't make replacement doors anymore. So, it's just an extremely frustrating problem. If you open the area near the rear passenger brake light, there are two connections that will need to be separated/disconnected. That will stop the dinging. Sorry I can't be of more help. Saturn/GMC should seriously offer to fix this for so many of us that are stuck with automatic doors that don't automatically do anything except ding.

Laura, are you certain you removed the correct fuses for the door chimes? I believe if you remove the correct fuses for the door chimes that there is no way the chime can continue. Check google for the fuse diagram for your car model/year (you don't state what car make/year you have). Good luck!
