Why does my Mac randomly sleep over and over while being powered up?

Block Image

My Mac does fine all with literally everything else, except every minute or so, it sleeps. I Can wake it up and log back in as normal- but then it sleeps again. Sometimes getting as bad as it flickering in and out of sleep and being awake.

(Sorry my video is a Tiktok, only video I have of it. I don't wanna power it back on because of the risk of something bad happening.)

Make sure the sleep settings are set the way you want.

On your Mac, choose Apple menu > System Settings, then click Lock Screen in the sidebar. (You may need to scroll down.)

To set the amount of time that should pass before your computer goes to sleep, do one of the following:

Click the Turn display off on battery when inactive pop-up menu on the right, then choose an option.

Click the Turn display off on power adapter when inactive pop-up menu on the right, then choose an option.

Regards,

Rachel Gomez

So, your system is narcoleptic! This is often a sign of a weak battery!

@Shira Arc - I see two issues here your displace issue is a backlight issue as the displays image is stable. This could be due to a liquid spill onto the backside of the logic board leaking down from a spill into the keyboard or trackpad. It’s also possible the LVDS cable connection on the logic board has damage so the power is not getting to the display. The last area is one I have seen a bit, people cleaning the screen letting the cleaner to drip down getting under the bezel wetting the other side of the LVDS cables connection in the display assembly. Sometimes I’ve had to also replace the LVDS cable.

Your second issue is your battery, while it still has life, it’s age is creeping up on it. Batteries only have four to five years of life depending on your use.
